Course Narrative:
During this courses, I was able to achieve Literary and Cultural Knowledge requirement for my MLO 3, developing knowledge and a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking and the behavioral practices and the cultural products of Hispanic societies. This Literature and Culture courses taught me the value of literature and Hispanic cultures. I learned a lot about the different cultures that exist in Latin America and the traditions that they have. At the same time, I was able to appreciate different styles of literature through different periods of time in Latin America. Something that was very interesting because I was able to see that the way of writing of various poets and authors was influenced by the period of time in which they wrote, as well as the social issues that the countries were going through. Literature has always been one of my favorite areas of study, taking this courses help me learn a lot more about different Latin American authors, and I really enjoy all the reading that we did in this courses. For example in the Latin American literature course, I learn about different poets and I read a novel that now is one of my favorites, “Como agua para chocolate”, by Laura Esquivel. In the history class I learned about the history and politics of the countries in Latin America, something that helped me understand how each country works. Finally in the Chicano narrative course, I had the opportunity to learned about many new authors and their works, the Chicano novels have are one of my favorites because I can connect with many of the characters in these stories, something that makes some of these novels very special to me.
